1 Corinthians 15 : 13 – 14 (KJV)
13 But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen:
14 and if Christ be not risen, then our preaching is vain, and your faith is also vain.
The crux of salvation is the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Resurrection is the proof of Jesus’s victory over death and the hope of life after death for every one that believes in Jesus. Our faith is in vain without the resurrection of Jesus from dead.
Jesus had raised many people from dead; He raised Lazarus, he raised the son of the widow of Nain from death to life and many others; but every one he raised from the dead by miracle had to die again physically. Only Jesus died and rose physically, and never to die again.
Hebrews 2: 14 – 15 (KJV)
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same, that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death — that is, the devil —
15 and deliver those who all their lifetime were subject to bondage through fear of death.
The fear of death is the highest and the greatest fear of every man. The fear of death grips the soul of every man. Any kind of fear a man expresses, be it the fear of lack, uncertainty, sickness, pain, the unknown; they are all rooted in death. The source of all fears is rooted in the fear of death.
Jesus himself had to partook in it. He defeated death by dying. Jesus cancelled death by his own death; if death cancels death, what would remain? Life of course! The death of Jesus was the death of all deaths. Death lost its grip and hold on everyone that believes in Jesus and commits their life to Him.
Hence, when a man dies in the Lord, he does not die per se; he sleeps in the Lord. Death is now a transition for the believer in Christ Jesus. Life does not stop here; though breath may stop here, but continues in the other realm, that’s why it is called the after-life. Real life begins after we exit this world, it is eternal life in Christ Jesus.
Acts 2: 24 (KJV)
But God hath raised Him up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
Death lost its grip on Jesus; yesterday, today and forever, so also death lost its grip on everyone in Christ Jesus. The snare of death is broken. We have eternal life.
Jesus said to Mary as He stood in front of Lazarus tomb; I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. This is one of the most powerful statements of Jesus. This is so bold and audacious. You may never know the magnitude of what Jesus did for you in his death and resurrection until you get to heaven.
Romans 6: 9 (KJV)
Knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dieth no more; death no more hath dominion over Him.
What is my responsibility now? Proclaim the Lord’s resurrection over your life. Be conscious of life, because eternal life is at work in you. Speak life in every situation. The victory of Jesus over death affects everything that concerns us. Life is at work in us now, so we speak life always. We speak grace always. We ought to have life consciousness at all times.
Romans 8: 11 (KJV)
But if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you.
The same Spirit, the exact Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you. If you’re experiencing death in any area of your life; introduce the life of Christ into it. The same Spirit of resurrection will restore the damage organ, broken body part, diseased body, dead finance. Today, proclaim the Lord’s resurrection over your life, your children and all that concerns you.
