Hebrews 4: 14 (KJV)
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Hebrews 10: 23 (KJV)
Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;).
The word Profession there in the Greek is HOMOLOGEA , it means CONFESSION, which means to say the say the same thing in consent or agreement with God.
Believers have learnt and still learning the power of faith confession and the importance of speaking the Word of God to cause changes in their lives; that is if you’re sick, you say I am strong, if you’re poor, you say I am rich backed up with scriptures; but what do we do after faith confessions?
We must learn to hold fast the very words we have been speaking, and not stop speaking despite any situation without wavering.
The word Hold Fast is the Greek – KRATEO, which means To use strength, to seize, to retain, to lay hold, to power over, to rule over, to master over.
Why Do You Have to Hold Fast?
Hebrew 2: 1
Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.
If you study the Greek Translation, the word, “should let them slip” is the opposite of Holding Fast. If you’re not holding fast, you’ll literally let things slip. Divine health can slip, prosperity can slip, provision can slip.
How Do You Fight The Good Fight Of Faith?
You must never back off, you must not quit, there’s no quitting in the faith life. Faith life requires doggedness and some audacity. Prosperity is a fight, Church Growth is a fight, Marriage is a fight, Financial Breakthrough is a fight
1 Timothy 6: 12 – 13 (KJV)
12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
The only fight we are allowed to “fight is the fight of faith”, don’t fight the demons, don’t fight your enemies, don’t fight your neighbours, don’t even fight demons (He told us to cast them out). We are called to fight the fight of faith, and he calls it the “The Good Fight” because we are ensure of the victory even before the fight started.
Read Verse 13 again and again…
Jesus earned his apostleship and high priesthood by his “good profession”. Jesus also had his own share of “the fight of faith”; when He was before Pilate, He maintained his confession, even in the face of death, he was not perturbed. He never changed his confession; he did not fret.
Maintain your confession over that ministry, business, family, career and whatever situation. Declare your victory. Don’t change your words, don’t decline, don’t lose your hope; maintain your convictions with joy and thanksgiving always; and miracles will manifest tangibly.
DECLARATIONS
I am child of victory, my faith is working and it is producing results. I do not quit or give up in my faith confessions. I am alive, I am victorious and blessed. The greater one lives on my inside. I am blessing and a channel of goodness to other.
