Not In A Hurry
Isaiah 28: 16 (KJV)
Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
Hastiness in your walk with God is a sign of unbelief; He that believes will not make haste. The great commission and the spreading of the gospel requires such urgency, yet Jesus instructed them to tarry first until they are endued with power from on high. (Read Luke 24: 49)
The events in our lives are mapped out by the timing of God. Jesus, our perfect model didn’t manifest too soon or too late, but at the fullness of time. The perfect will of God for mankind was consummated within 3 and half years of the ministry of Jesus, yet he waited for 30 years of his life before he stepped into purpose.
David had the technology to build the temple; but he was chosen for another purpose. He didn’t argue with God or build the temple on his own terms; he knows God’s plans; He’s a man after God’s heart. He wanted to build God a house, but God had planned that Solomon would do it.
A believer or minister of the gospel must understand how to flow in his dispensation and recognize the season he/she is in. One of the most important things is to know why you are called and what you are called for.
Everyone involved in the work of the ministry is like a tree planted by the river of water who produce fruits in their seasons. If a minister understands seasons, he will never be distracted or discouraged at any level.
Acts 19:36 [AMP]
Seeing then that these things cannot be denied, you ought to be quiet (keep yourselves in check) and do nothing rashly.
Nothing with God is meant to be done rashly or in a hurry. It is unbelief to think age is no longer on your side or those you started with at the same time had gone ahead of you. If you are still faithful in following God’s plans, old age will not prevent you from bearing fruits.
Dare to look upon Abraham! There is a season for planting and another season for bearing fruits. It is unwise to compete with anyone bearing their fruits while you’re still in your planting phase. Our life in Christ is a life of consecration, not competition.
If you should hurry to do anything at all; it is to get into the Word, to spend time with the Word of God, to meditate on the Word of God, to believe every word of God like your life depends on it, to trust God with every breath of your life.
Hastiness shows fear, doubt, worry and unbelief; your hastiness in getting things done is not God’s plan, God’s plan is to keep your mind in perfect peace, while you are waiting on God you are in good shape, with nothing missing and nothing broken.
Most times, we want to prosper quickly, we want to accelerate faster, but that’s not God. Your confidence in God will not put you in a haste, because you know that God is behind the scene working out his perfect plan for all that concerns you. We accelerate with God’s word not with our urgent needs.
Today, I challenge hurry up your faith life, hurry up your prayer life, hurry up the times you spend with God in his word; become addicted to putting the Word of God first and get rid of every thing that competes with His knowledge in your life.
Proverbs 19: 2 (KJV)
Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.
Let God’s word shape your desire, Let spending time with God in prayer and fasting shape your desire; don’t let worry shape your desire, don’t let fear shape your desire; negative elements will keep you in a hurry about the cares of life, and the cares of life will take you out of God’s plan.
Be at rest, not in a hurry; cease from your labour and move into God perfect plan as you wait on him by feeding on the Word day and night.
I will not hasten God, God will hasten His word to perform it in my life (Jeremiah 1: 12). I will trust every word of God and remain calm, unperturbed and unshaken. Glory to God!
