EXOUSIA: The Authority Of The Believer
God gave man dominion in the garden, man had a measure of authority in the garden. This is very profound! Man was never without power. He was created as a blessed, powerful and fruitful man.
Genesis 1:28 (KJV)
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
As far as man was concerned, man has the total authority on the earth, the dominion mandate was given to man; don’t forget Satan too had been chased down on the earth; he had lost his position in heaven after the rebellion, there was no place for him anymore.
At the creation God placed man over and above all; the Adamic authority was the supreme authority on the earth; the Adamic authority was higher than the Angelic authority, and as far as the earth is concerned, man was in charge
But what went wrong? The sin of disobedience made man to lose his authority to Satan, and since Satan was a fallen angel, man lost this authority to Satan; hence the Angelic Authority (in the fallen order) gain supremacy over the Adamic authority. Adam was supposed to be in charge, but since he lost his place to Satan, Satan became the god of this world. (2 Corinthians 4: 4)
Romans 3:23(KJV)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
The glory of God was stripped of man because of sin, he lost everything. He lost his authority, dominion and rights to the devil because of the fallen nature. Sin is a big deal, it reduces and decreases a man, but thank God for Jesus, for the price and the sacrifices he paid on our behalf
What Is The Authority Of The Believer?
The Authority that was lost in Adam was now recovered in Christ Jesus. It took the obedience of Jesus to regain and recover what was lost through the disobedience of Adam.
Romans 5: 19 (KJV)
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous
The Authority of the believer came with the package of salvation; upon salvation, the man (believer) in Christ gained a certain authority. We received this authority from the moment we became born again; the authority of the believer came with your recreated human spirit; whether you feel it or not, you have been given authority.
The devil aims to keep believers unaware of their rights and privileges in Christ. This is why he deceived Adam and Eve in the garden, leading them to lose what they had through ignorance. He understands that once we grasp this truth, we will be able to overcome him and claim what is rightfully ours.
Nothing frightens the Devil than a believer who understands his authority, that a person who know who he is and what he has in Christ.
The Believer’s Authority is the authority delegated to us; Authority is delegated power; the measure of power vested in Jesus is the amount of power vested upon the believer in Christ.
Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
The Word “Authority” used in this scripture is from the Greek word “EXOUSIA” – It means “Delegated Authority With Full Rights And Power”
This statement was made when Jesus rose up fresh from the grave. He didn’t come back from the grave to give stories of pain, defeat, rejection, disappointment
He simply said ““All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
All of the authority in heaven, all of the authority on the earth, including one man lost, and the one Satan had now belongs to Jesus and since it belongs to Jesus, it belongs to us.
What Is The Concept OF Exousia?
“EXOUSIA” is the believer’s authority, and our authority is founded on what Jesus accomplished for us. The authority vested upon Jesus is the exact authority vested on me as a believer in Christ.
Now we the have power of attorney to use the name of Jesus, and the name of Jesus will work for us as though Jesus is presently physically. The authority we have in Christ Jesus will produce the exact result for us in the same manner it would produce for Jesus if he was here physically.
We are the ambassadors of Christ; we represent Him. We are his mouthpiece, battle axe and weapon of war. Through his authority in us, he wants to stop the havoc in the world, with his authority at work in us, we can place the devil where he belongs – under our feet; we can stop cruelty, wickedness, bad news; we can heal sickness in human bodies and bring glory to God in any situation.
All of the power Jesus had has been given to the Church which you are a part of; Jesus is no longer in this world, we are the Jesus men see in this world; He didn’t return to heaven with his power; power is not needed in heaven; the power resides in each of us.
Today, use your authority in Christ, stand against that challenge, speak to that mountain and it will bow to you; draw the line now and keep Satan off, keep sickness off, keep pain off. You’re in charge not the devil. Speak today, declare and make a decree now; don’t delay! You can change anything in your life with the authority vested on you by Christ Jesus! Speak now and use your power today!
DECLARATION
I know who I am in Christ. I have a believer with power and authority. I have “EXOUSIA” and I make use of it. I refuse to be defeated or subdued in any situation because the greater One lives on the inside of me. I am victorious always, Amen! (Please spend more time to pray in the Holy Ghost)
