All Debts Paid, All Curses Broken
Someone asked in a Bible Study session few months ago; Pastor Ransome, what about the portion of the scripture that says; God will visit and punish the sins of the father upon the children even till the third generation in Deuteronomy 5:9?
What about those who are suffering from the consequences of what their parents did in the past?
I quickly opened his eyes to the realities of Colossians 2: 13 – 15 and Hebrews 10: 14 – 17.
Colossians 2: 13 – 14 (NLT)
13 You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for he forgave all our sins.
14 He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.
Hebrews 10: 17 (KJV)
And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
The devil will keep cheating you as long as you are ignorant of who you are in Christ Jesus. Once a man accepts the Lordship of Jesus, and he places his trust in the finished works of Christ on his behalf; all penalties, curses and punishments have lost their grip over such life.
All debts have been paid for, all curses and sins have been removed by the once and for all sacrifice of Jesus Christ and God will no longer punish the believer for any sin committed by any ancestor because Jesus has taken all the punishments his behalf, and the big thing is; God has no record of sins. Jesus took it all away!
A believer is a new manner of man; he belongs to a new class of people, a new race, a new order and pedigree. He has become one with God. He has become a recipient of Christ’s greater blessing. Nothing of the past can match up to that which he has obtained in Christ. The devil has no right to mess around with you anymore. Christ already messed him up on your behalf.
Any man who still leads a life of failure or defeat has not yet taken advantage of his rights and privileges revealed in the written word. The devil has no right to mess with the believer; the one who is still being tossed by the schemes of the devil is such fellow who is ignorant of the provision of his redemptive rights in Christ.
Now as a believer, it is time to act, and by acting on the reality of God’s word and functioning in the power of the Holy Spirit at work in you; God will use you to turn every harsh and awful situation in your family and in the lives of other people for good.
With Christ in you, with the Holy Ghost in you; God has arrived and nothing is impossible for you. All debts have ben paid and all curses have been broken. God remembers your sins no more. Grace to your Heart!
