The Surplus Consciousness
Philippians 4: 19 [KJV]
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
The word “supply” used here is translated from the Greek word “pleroo” which means “to make surplus”. It means overflowing measure and a maximum load of supply. God’s desire is not just to meet our needs but to make His supply surplus, to bless us abundantly so that we can move from “not enough”, to have “more than enough”.
We can have much more than we bargain for, we can receive in large quantities even much more than what we can ever ask or fathom; because His supply is not based on our bank account or what we have in store but according to the riches of His glory in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The supply of God meets and surpasses every need. In God’s plan, before any need arises, God has made the supply ready, but most times we are too fixated on the need that we don’t recognize the supply. We can be too overwhelmed by a situation that we can’t recognize God in it.
Ever before the children of Israel needed to cross over, God planned that the Red sea would part before them, even while on their voyage to the promise land; rock would bring out water, manna would fall from heaven to feed them and they would eat quails as meat miraculously. Before the need ever arises, God has created the supply in abundance.
God is more than willing to provide for your material needs than you’re willing to get them. God is more than willing to give you a comfortable life than you’re willing to get them yourself. It is His desire and pleasure to bring all the good things of this life for your possession. God is delighted when you have abundance and surplus.
You have bills to pay or project to finance or it looks like everything is falling apart and you’re about to lose your mind. This is not a moment to panic or worry; it is not a moment to cry and say O God please help me. It wouldn’t work that way.
It is a moment to stand firm and fasten your heart on the integrity of the promises of the word and declare “All my needs are met according to God’s riches in Christ Jesus”. It is a moment where you express audacious faith in the face of staggering circumstance. It is a moment to scream and roar for joy.
Listen to this! Let every pressure you experience lead you to the Word of God not to worry over the needs. Needs create pressure, worry and fear; don’t fall for it, don’t let your needs get you under pressure; rather it should lead you to prayer and the meditation of God’s word.
It is a moment where you fill and jam-pack your spirit, soul and body with the reality of the word of God; not just the word committed to the memory, but the Living Word indwelling in the innermost part of the heart. It is a moment to voice the supply, not the need. It is a moment to be abundance conscious, and not lack minded. It is a moment to vocalize your faith and rejoice in the imminent provision God is making available to you and before long the answers would have rolled in without a struggle.
What do you see today? What should you be conscious of today? What would be your dominant thoughts today? I think miracles, I expect supernatural provision, I am conscious of favour. The supply of God has met and exceeded every need. I have an abundance mindset. Glory to God!
DECLARATION
All my needs are met in Christ Jesus. I have more than enough today and always because God’s supply for me is inexhaustible and all surpassing. The “pleroo” of God is overflowing in my life.
