Brokenness: The Dealings Of The Lord

The more you study the Bible, the more you are awe struck. Sometimes it can get you up on your feet and you’re up and running around your study room with no one chasing you, and you end up screaming and shouting with unspeakable joy.

But other times, the word of God leaves you broken and sober, and before you know it, you find yourself just weeping and you’d never realize that the pages of your Bible are literally wet with tears.

In my little experience with the Lord, the more I study God’s word, the more I weep, the more I am broken, the anointing cannot be quantified. I do study to preach and teach, but much more I study to grow, I study to see Jesus, I study to have encounters. It is what keep me going. It is what has helped me to do the little I have done, and the greater ones ahead of me.

The Word of God radiates the heart with joy, yet it is a sword, a two edge sword. It cuts and cuts. It cuts away the flesh, it cuts away everything that competes with the place of God in the heart until everything you hold most dear fizzles out and nothing is left but Jesus.

Brokenness is often used to depict a sinner’s state of surrender to God, but it is more than that. Brokenness is the place where you totally submit to the authority of the Word. It is a place where your heart becomes tender by the  study of the Word. It is a place where you become childlike. It is a place where you cease to exist for yourself and your agenda does.

Psalm 51: 17 (KJV)
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

May be what you need is not more anointing or manifestations, may be what is needed at this point is your life is not more platforms of ministry. May be what you need is some cutting asunder by the Word, some brokenness, some pruning, breaking, bending and twisting until you confirm to the designs of the Word; some dealings until your heart becomes tender and submissive to the Great One.

Paul didn’t just show up, he didn’t jump classes in spiritual growth, the mighty insights and revelations granted to him didn’t happen within days. The Book of Ephesians was said to have been written within the space of 18 years. You may read that whole Epistle in an hour, but it took the writer 18 years.

This was a man who vexed the church so sore and supervised the murdered of Stephen, God handpicked him, saved him by Grace, but it will take heaven to know the dealings and the breakings of God upon such a man yielded to the Lord.

The call of God is a call of Grace, but Grace has not used any man He hasn’t broken. If you see the Grace of God actively working in someone, they have actually been schooled by Grace.

James 1: 21 (KJV)
Therefore lay apart all filthiness and the superfluity of wickedness, and receive with meekness the engrafted Word, which is able to save your souls.

The grace of God has its dealings, the grace of God is lavish, but it comes with process, schooling and tutorship. Graces saves and teaches, but it breaks too! It melts the heart, making it tender.

You have nothing to offer this world until you offer all up to God, this is the way of the Spirit and that path of the just that shines by the day. His time is at hand, Glory to His Name, even us!!
