Cultivating A Habit Of Generosity

Generosity is a state of the heart. Generosity has nothing to do with money; it is first a heart issue. Giving is a heart issue. Real givers give because their hearts give. It has nothing to do with much or little, a generous person is ready to part away with what they have at any given opportunity.

Luke  16:10 – 11 (KJV)
He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

If you can’t give the little God has bless you with, you can’t give when you have much more. Your faithfulness is tested in little things. Everything about your love and faith in God will be tested. God see you and knows even to the inner core. The mastery of big thing is dependent on how you master smaller things.

One of the reasons a lot of God’s people are broke and struggling is due to their small mindedness. They are too dependent on the little they have; they live and plan on what they have; some people are small in their minds they can’t even buy good things for themselves, so poor that they are poor to themselves. They don’t believe God can supernaturally meet their needs, they are too small in their minds, they are overly pessimistic; such people have a defeated mindset.

Some others have placed their trust in their money; they have made their savings their gods. The only time they have financial rest is when they have income or savings. While money making and savings are good financial behaviours, you must never trust in your riches.

How much can you save to build a house in this economy, to raise children and send them to good schools, from primary to university. Can you pay for sound health? How often can you work to be able to afford the life you want? Before you know it, stress has wrecked your body.

Listen well … Only God gives financial rest. God is your source. Don’t make your resources your source. Don’t make your work, income, boss, job or anyone your source. Men are channels, channels dry, only the source can never dry.

No amount of wealth can respond to kidney failure, cancer has no respect for wealth or riches. No amount of money in the bank or in your savings can cure a damage organ or internal organ failure.

Proverbs 3: 5 (KJV)
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

One way to serve the Lord is by cultivating a habit of generosity; being generous, first towards the Lord your God in tithes, offering and partnership in the gospel; also being generous and sensitive to the needs of others around you.

Hear what God does for a generous man …

Psalm 41: 2 – 3 (KJV)
2 The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth; and Thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
3 The Lord will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing; Thou wilt turn him on his bed in his sickness.

Train yourself to give; force yourself to give! The blessings of giving is of a great reward. Start by giving your Tithes and be faithful in it. Nothing can be enough, if you have all the riches of this world, it still won’t be enough.

Proverbs 3: 9 (KJV)
Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

The key word is “HONOUR”, you can outgive God, there is nothing you can give that can be too much. Anytime you give, you honour God, and you’re telling Him that you put him first, before I spend my money on other things, God first. If God becomes your priority in your finances, He will make you too a priority.

Start today! Be faithful and consistent with your Tithes, plan your offering each time you go to church; partner with the gospel in your local church; sponsor a family, pay a year’s or a term’s school fees for someone’s child. Go to health center and pay bills occasionally.

Look for way to be generous, force it. If you have really met the Lord, you will not overlook needy people, compassion is the driving force of a man who loves and knows God.

DECLARATION
