You cannot spend much time on movies or social media and not have your spirit subdued. Attending parties and getting so concerned with occasions and social events at the expense of fellowshipping with the Father would definitely drain you out of the Spirit life.
Doing everything at the neglect of prayer and the study of the Word will hinder spiritual growth. There’s no shortcut to being spiritual, it is what you feed on that becomes a huge part of you.
Romans 8: 6 – 8 [KJV]
6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Each time you feed the flesh, you starve your spirit. Sowing to the flesh and feeding the carnal man will eventually subdue your spirit man. If you want to keep your spirit alive and active; be intentional about feeding your spirit man; then the flesh will be starved.
All flesh is corrupt and the only way to gain mastery over the activities of the flesh is to continue to sow to the Spirit. You will have to keep sowing until you are strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man. You have to keep sowing to the Spirit until your faith life rises like an edifice. The infilling of the Spirit is a daily spiritual obligation.
Strength is made available to you when your invest time, resources and energy in the studying of God’s Word, carving out time to listen to sermon either on videos or audios and not forsaking the assembly of the brethren. Strength is also received when you spend quality time in prayer and intercession. As you keep sowing to the Spirit, you will gain an overriding effect over the flesh and body.
Romans 8: 13 – 14 (KJV)
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Feeding and responding always to the cravings of the flesh will result into spiritual death. No man can be led by the Spirit of God until until such a person is spiritual. The goal of the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit in you is to make you spiritual and to lead you.
A strong Spirit wrapped up in the things of God is an strange to depression, lack, sickness and other negative elements that limit people in this world. Jesus told us; the flesh profits nothing, it is the Spirit who gives life, and as you keep sowing to the Spirit, you will surely manifest the power and the glory in reality.
DECLARATION
I sow into the Spirit always by giving attention to God’s word, spending quality time in prayer and consciously practicing the spiritual life. I reap life and peace.
