Isaiah 61:3 (KJV)
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified.

Heaviness is a disease of the soul; it is likened to an oppressive feeling of discouragement or depression. It’s like wearing a dark or dirty garment. When the spirit of heaviness comes on a man, everything becomes dark and sorrowful that you even become despaired of life. 

This is not a case for the child of God. We have the garment of praise and the joy of the Holy Ghost instead of the spirit of heaviness. This is not an actual garment you pick up from a wardrobe, it is spiritual choice and decision to clothe yourself in worship, gratitude, and joy; even when you do not feel like it. This garment of praise is a consciousness of who we are and what have have in Christ; what he has done, what is he doing currently and what is about to do for us.

There’s a shortage of joy in the world today; sadness fills the air; everywhere you trurn to, there’s one bad news or the other. You cannot simply “stop” being sad or anxious; instead, you must actively replace the negative emotions with a joyful action. Just as a physical garment must be put on, you must choose to “wear” praise and gratitude over negative news, symptoms, sickness and bad emotions.

We live in a fallen world, there’s corruption everywhere; but we are of a different order. The only place of constant joy is in “The Word”. The word of God is our answer book. It is where you get “Good News Always”. Wear your garment today and always. Praising God turns your focus from worrying about mundane things to eternal things. Gratitude changes your spiritual atmosphere and guard you against the beggarly elements of this world. God has replaced my mourning, despair, and depression with a covering of joy, hope, and thanksgiving! This is my reality!

Joy is a choice! Joy is a decision! Choose today what garment to wear. I will always put on my robe of righteousness and wear praise like a garment. I refuse sadness! I refuse to be perturbed! I am not moved by what I feel, see or hear; I am only moved by the word of God. My days of mourning are over. I am God’s tree of righteousness, I (Ransome Adewale) am the planting of the Lord and God is glorified in me. This is my constant reality! Today is my day of Good News! What do you do with good news? Praise God for it now and do it constantly. Glory to His name forever!
