The Spirit Of Prayer
Zechariah 12:10 (KJV)
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
The Spirit of Grace and Supplication produces the “SPIRIT OF PRAYER”. The Holy Ghost will cause you to pray. The Holy Spirit produces an outpouring and awakening of the spirit of prayer
When I say The Spirit of Prayer, I am not describing an angel or a Spirit whose name is prayer, I am talking about when The Holy Spirit brings an overwhelming influence of prayer on you! When that happens, you breathe prayer.
He is called The Spirit of grace and supplication because He produces prayer and fellowship in the believer.
Psalm 80: 18 (KJV)
So will not we go back from thee: quicken us, and we will call upon thy name.
Prayer can not be produced by the Mind (the mind lacks the capacity to pray until it is quickened by the Spirit and renewed in the Word), you need a quickening of the Holy Spirit. He’s called the Spirit of grace and supplication.
So that you won’t start, then quit; or begin a prayer life and along the process you faint; then you need to be quickened by the Spirit.
Romans 8: 26 (KJV)
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself (Himself) maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
The best and the easiest approach to prayer is to do it by the energy of the Spirit, not the arms of flesh.
Resolutions will fail, emulating someone’s prayer life will expire in a matter of time; trying to force a spiritual journey will lead to a dead end. It is not by power, nor by might; but by the Spirit of God.
So how do I get started? Invite the spirit of prayer by desire. The mind desires sex, food, sleep, fame, money b y default or what it is exposed to; you can also expose and train your mind to desire prayer.
Invite the spirit of prayer by desire. Desire to spend time with God because God desires to spend time with you as well. Your desire can be a great blessing to you if you channel it the right way.
Today, let the Spirit of prayer engulf you as you channel your desires towards the things of God; in His word and prayer.
Begin with personal devotion to Bible Study, and as you study the word of God; the light beaming from the word of God will flood your soul, and before you know it, prayer will begin to come out of your lips as the Spirit gives you utterance.
DECLARATION
I yield and give myself to prayer and ministry of the Word. I desire consistent fellowship with the Father and the Lord Jesus through the help of the Holy Spirit.
